Food Finders Food Bank | Volunteering in Lafayette and West Lafayette, IN to help feed the hungry

Since 1981, Food Finders Food Bank has been helping to eliminate hunger across 16 counties in Mid-North Indiana. FFFB is a vital part of the welfare of Tippecanoe and 15 other counties in Indiana, providing food to their member agencies, hosting mobile food pantries, advocating for the hungry and educating the public about hunger related issues. The mobile pantry is one of many programs that operates to feed those in need and those that are faced with the challenge of not being able to provide food to their families.

What is a Mobile Food Pantry?

The Food Finders Mobile Pantry brings fresh produce, dairy, meat baked goods and other essential food to distribution sites within their service area. On a scheduled mobile pantry day, the FFFB trucks roll out from the distribution center and take up to 10,000 lbs. of food to the streets. Volunteers help coordinate the food distribution and take part in feeding the community at the front lines.

Our Contributions

K.L. Security works in cooperation with FFFB to volunteer at mobile food pantry events, raise awareness and education about the FFFB mission and help raise donations that are used to purchase food for the hungry. Team members at KL Security assist with food distribution, event coordination, set up, tear down and publicity. In 2011, KL Security has participated in mobile pantry events that have distributed over 20,000 lbs. of food.

In 2011 KL Security also co-created a Facebook "Like" drive for FFFB to increase awareness of the goals and mission to eliminate hunger in our local community. The "Like" drive campaign increased the amount of 'likes' for FFFB from just over 100 to well over 400 in just 45 days. As a special thank you for participating in the 'like drive' we gave away an ioSafe hard drive to a random winner selected by FFFB.

We are always happy to work with FFFB and volunteering in the local community helps each of us realize how fortunate we are and how much we can do to help those that are in need.

“Food Finders is extremely grateful for K.L. Security’s generous donations of time, equipment and funds.  Progressive companies like K.L. Security make it possible for Food Finders to feed the needy in our community.  Thank you!" - Katy Bunder, Executive Director
