FireKing lateral files offer you all the features of our vertical files in a sleek design. They're fully equipped for both letter and legal hanging files-no additional frames are required. Available in 31", 38" and 44" widths in 2, 3 and 4-drawer sizes, with a UL-listed high-security Medeco® key lock. A variety of additional locking options is available. All FireKing Lateral Filing Cabinets are available in nine standard colors. Custom colors can be matched to your specifications on any file. These files carry the UL 1 Hour fire and impact rating. UL 350º 1-hour fire rating puts the file cabinet through a rigorous 1,700º F burn test.
The average fire burns at 800-1,000º F for 20 minutes.
FireKing fire proof files carry the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) label on their insulated records protection equipment, the product must meet or exceed the UL 72 testing standards.
 The UL Impact Rating is equivalent to a fall from a
three story building.
FireKing fireproof lateral filing cabinets carry the UL 350 1-hour fire rating. After a product has passed the Fire Endurance Test, another sample of the same product may be tested for fire and impact.
The sample is prepared in the same manner as the Fire Endurance Test. Then it is heated to a specific time and temperature. After the product has been exposed for the correct time period, it is immediately removed form the furnace and hoisted 30 feet off the ground. UL then drops the product within two minutes into a pile of broken brick on a concrete base.
FireKing products are fire tested, dropped 3 stories, then heated again to test for explosion.
All UL classified insulated record protection equipment must pass the explosion test. For this test, the sample is prepared in the same manner as for the two previous tests. The test furnace is left empty and heated to 2000°F. The testers quickly open the door and insert the sample. For 30 minutes (20 minutes for units rated ½ hour), the furnace is kept at 2000°F. If no explosion takes place, the sample remains in the furnace until it cools sufficiently to handle.
The sample is then forced to open and examined for heat or moisture damage. The interior finish, insulation, security or interior equipment, locks and fastening between parts, all undergo detailed inspection.

 3-Year Warranty.
Lateral filing cabinets from FireKing have the best warranty in the industry. The 3-year warranty covers all mechanical or operable parts. This ensures that if a part malfunctions or breaks down during normal use, we will either repair or replace the part. Associated labor costs for the repair or replacement of these parts will be paid by FireKing for three years from the date of purchase.

All FireKing files come standard with a Medecco high-security key lock. Programmable electronic locks are available for most FireKing files. You can specify one E-lock for the cabinet or order your fire safe file with E-locks on each filing drawer (Turtle™ files are equipped with standard key locks).
 Fireproof files do not protect computer media.
FireKing files are built to protect paper documents including computer records, deeds, titles, lists, tax records, etc. To fully protect computer media, FireKing offers the MediVault.
